Demolition began on Mayan Hall on March 16. The venue has served as a hub for performing arts since its construction in 1969 and featured countless student performances and events. Mayan Hall was replaced with the new Performing Arts Center.

Summer Readiness Program at Southwestern College
The Summer Readiness Program at Southwestern College is more than just summer school. It's a full college immersion program that prepares local high school students for a successful transition to Southwestern College. Over the summer, students take two college courses at Southwestern College. They get a chance to meet their counselors, meet their new classmates (and possibly new best friends) and they participate in social and cultural activities all while getting to know ins and outs of their new home campus.

Under the Influence, hosted by Health Services and Campus Police, teaches students the dangers of drunk driving by putting them through a simulated drunk driving obstacle course and mock DUI checkpoints.
Professor Mark Van Stone keeps Maya history alive in new campus buildings

3D Printing at Southwestern College
Through STEM classes and clubs like the Society of Women Engineers, the Math and Science Club, Southwestern College students are learning how to use 3d printers and create objects. Engineering major Giselle Romo has made Stormtroopers, a lightsaber, a Yoda pumpkin and a gray shark named "Mr. Jaws."
