I’m Dr. Mark Sanchez and I have just completed my first week as the new superintendent/president of Southwestern College.
As a Southwestern College graduate, I know very well the multiple priorities students manage in working to complete their higher education.
I also realize this is a very uncertain time for many students in maintaining enrollment in courses during a pandemic. Please do not let the uncertainty prevent you from pursuing the vision you have set for yourself in completing your college, career and personal goals.
We honor your journey and offer a comprehensive set of supports and services. Be sure to take advantage of all of the resources that are available to support your success including Financial Aid options that can help you pay for college, our Federal Emergency Relief Grant, Counseling and Career Advisement to ensure you are on track with your student education plan, Online Academic Tutoring to help you excel in your coursework, Personal Wellness Services that can help you manage the stress and anxiety that many students experience, and many other Student Services and Campus Resources.
Don’t forget to explore all of the resources available to you with our SWC Cares program that can support you with food, housing, transportation, textbooks, computers, wifi hotspots and other resources, including our Basic Needs Request form, CONNECTS Technology Loan Request form,and Jag Kitchen ToGo Request form. That’s a lot of information to absorb, but we have a full-time basic needs coordinator who can personally assist you in connecting with all the support we offer. To find out more and to apply for funding and resources currently available, read our story.
Did you know that we also are offering a wide range of Fast Track classes that you can complete in eight weeks? Classes begin after spring break. We are offering many general education classes, including English, English as a Second Language, History, Communications, political science, psychology, sociology and art. We are also offering a variety of career education classes. We encourage you to think about adding an additional class to complete your goals more quickly, or share the information with a friend so that they can pursue new academic opportunities.
We have excellent faculty, classified professionals and administrators who are committed to assist you with the resources you need to accomplish your goals. We are here to help you succeed!
