Southwestern College’s instruction will continue to be held online and through distance education for its 2021 summer session. The only exceptions remain Southwestern College’s allied health and public safety courses, such as the police academy, nursing and medical operations programs.
“We remain confident in our health care professionals and their vaccine rollout plan for our region,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo. “As of now, the data trends in both transmission rates and vaccination rates don’t allow us to safely expand our on-campus operations this summer. Since the start of this pandemic, the health and safety of our community and our commitment to stop the spread of COVID-19 have been our top priorities.”
The summer 2021 class schedule will be available at the end of March]. Continuing students will be able to register for summer session courses beginning April 26 and open registration for new students begins on May 4. The 2021 summer session will begin on June 7.
All Southwestern College campuses will remain closed until further notice, except for pre-approved parking lot activities, such as food and supply distributions and bookstore order pick-ups.
As of now, no decision has been made for the fall 2021 semester. Southwestern College’s leadership team will continue to closely monitor local data and health orders as it develops its phased reopening plan and its future on-campus operations.
