With the application period for superintendent/president candidates closing this week, the Southwestern College Governing Board is moving into the next phase of the college president search.
In closed session on Nov. 24, the Governing Board will review all applications submitted and select candidates for first-level interviews by the 28-member Superintendent/President Search Advisory Committee.
As that part of the process moves forward, the Governing Board is also asking the community to submit questions for the finalists’ virtual video forums. All employees and residents are encouraged to submit their questions by Monday, Nov. 30, through an online form.
“Southwestern College is a community asset, and as a Governing Board we value the community’s input in the very important selection of our next superintendent/president,” said Governing Board President Nora E. Vargas. “We encourage community participation throughout the process.”
The finalist video forums will be videotaped and available for public viewing from Dec. 9 – 12 on the college’s Superintendent/President Search webpage. The community will have the opportunity to provide their written feedback on each of the finalists’ recordings when posted.
Governing Board members will review all the candidate video forums and feedback received from the college and community prior to conducting selection interviews with the finalists at the Dec. 15 board meeting.
