FAFSA Fridays Return for the Fall Semester

FAFSA Fridays Return

Are you confused when filling out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? Not sure if you’re missing anything on your application or completed it correctly? Maybe you’re lost and don’t know where to start?

Fear not, FAFSA Fridays are here to help.

Southwestern College’s Financial Aid Department will be again hosting weekly, free, walk-in workshops called FAFSA Fridays to help students with applications for FAFSA or the California Dream Act.

FAFSA Fridays are a great way for students to get hands-on assistance from the Financial Aid Department. These workshops will be held on two Southwestern campuses: in the Transfer Center at the Chula Vista campus located on the second floor of the Cesar Chavez Student Services Center and the Higher Education Center at San Ysidro Campus in room 5201.

Launched in fall 2016, FAFSA Fridays will continue to assist students with hands-on assistance and step-by-step guidance from Financial Aid experts. Nearly 90 percent of students who come in for a workshop complete their applications while there.

Fall 2018 workshops will be held every Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. starting Aug. 24 until Dec. 7 (except Oct. 26 and Nov. 23).

Spring 2019 workshops will be held every Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. starting Jan. 4 until May 17.

If you are planning on attending one of these workshops, you will want to bring the following documents:

  • Social Security Number
  • Tax Information
  • W-2 Form
