Southwestern College Named a 2018 Military Friendly School

The Southwestern College Veterans’ Resource Center is home to many services that help support student veteran success.

Southwestern College has been designated a 2018 Military Friendly School by Victory Media, publisher of the “Guide to Military Friendly Schools.” Southwestern College exceeded each standard of evaluation, including student veteran graduation rates, admissions and counseling, job placement and financial aid awarded.

Victory Media, who helps returning veterans explore the best options and opportunities for their education, awards the designation through an independent council of leaders in higher education and military recruitment. For the first time this year, veteran student feedback was also used in consideration. View of a full list of rankings on the Military Friendly website.

“The fact that student feedback was used this year means we’re doing right by our student veterans,” said Jonathan D. White, coordinator of the Veterans’ Resource Center. “They gave up so much to serve us and our country and we have to do the same when they come back and seek their education at Southwestern College.”

Southwestern College is in the heart of one of the largest military communities in the country. Many active duty members and veterans from all over San Diego County attend Southwestern College, where they can find dedicated veterans counselors and support staff. Southwestern College also has an active Student Veterans Organization who help run and maintain the Veterans’ Resource Center.
