CHULA VISTA, California – Southwestern College’s reporting for its Proposition R bond measure earned a perfect score for transparency from the San Diego Taxpayers Educational Foundation.

Only six of the 23 school districts with active bond programs earned perfect scores. The taxpayers educational foundation evaluated 25 categories, including budget, audit results, project lists and updates, to determine its findings. Especially important for the rating was the accessibility of information for taxpayers to assess the performance of the college’s bond program.

“Transparency of our bond programs has been a cornerstone for our Governing Board,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Kindred Murillo. “They have played an active role in setting the direction for our construction program to ensure that our facilities provide our students with outstanding educational opportunities.”

The taxpayers educational foundation reviewed the Proposition R website and found that each project had a listed budget, up-to-date project descriptions and agendas and minutes from the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. The website also includes the most current audit reports.

The full report is listed on the San Diego Taxpayers Foundation website.
