One by one people lined up to flip through the pages of the leather-bound Book of Honor looking for an empty spot to write down the name and honor a veteran in their lives. The second annual “Honor our Heroes” event on Thursday, May 18, was part of an early Memorial Day celebration at Southwestern College. Members of the campus community were invited to the Veterans’ Resource Center to sign the Book of Honor and place a flag in the Flag Garden in remembrance of a loved one who served in the U.S. military. Veterans’ Resource Center Coordinator Jonathan White honored each new entry in the Book of Honor with a ring of the bell during a moment of silence.
