The results are in, and the winners have been chosen for Southwestern College’s first-ever Instagram contest. We asked the Southwestern College community to showcase their unique Southwestern College experience, upload it to Instagram and tag it with #SWCpov.
The staff of the office of Communications, Community and Government Relations poured over the more than 70 entries that captured a variety of Southwestern College points of view. They eventually narrowed it down to about 15 posts, then down five before the winners emerged.
Grabbing first place was Brittany Black for her shot of the library walkway in the rain. While her shot was beautiful, judges said that it was Brittany’s caption that clinched the win for her: “Rain or shine, my school is a beauty.” We couldn’t agree more. She’ll be winning an mtvU prize pack which includes an iHome wireless Bluetooth speaker, a Moleskine notebook and a bkr 16 oz glass water bottle.
Mary York, a student-athlete, took second place with her shot of a recent Jaguar baseball game. This photo exceptionally captured the spirit of the #SWCpov contest. Mary’s photo showcased her personal perspective so well it was like we were behind home plate ourselves cheering on the Jaguars. Mary will take home a Moleskine notebook and a bkr 16 oz glass water bottle.
Although we only planned for two winners, one more Instagrammer had to be recognized. Mary Crockett single-handedly posted more than 40 photos of Southwestern College and tagged it with #SWCpov. Because her photos highlighted the college in such a unique, creative and expansive way, she’s receiving the newly created honorable mention award and winning a Moleskine notebook.
