Southwestern College Board Selects Dr. Kindred Murillo as Finalist for Superintendent/President

At its Dec. 5 meeting, the Southwestern Community College District Board of Trustees selected Dr. Kindred Murillo as the finalist for the College’s new Superintendent/President, pending a final vote at their regular Dec. 14 meeting.

Dr. Murillo has served as Superintendent/President of the Lake Tahoe Community College District (LTCC) since July, 2011. During her tenure, Dr. Murillo facilitated the successful passage of Measure F—a $55 million general obligation bond—initiated and successfully diversified the college’s revenue sources and focused the college on student equity.

The Board was impressed with Dr. Murillo’s steady leadership at Lake Tahoe, her passion for improving educational opportunity for all students and her commitment to equity and equality.

Dr. Murillo stated she was excited by the opportunity to lead Southwestern College’s ongoing work to put students first, to secure the College’s fiscal base and to foster a culture of equity and inclusion.

The Board anticipates taking final action to appoint Dr. Murillo and approve a contract at their Dec. 14 meeting.
