SVO President Instagram Takeover

Student Veterans’ Organization President Vincent Avila-Walker took over Southwestern College’s Instagram account on Thursday, Nov. 10 as part of the college’s annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony. The ceremony is a way to honor and remember veterans and to specifically recognize student veterans at Southwestern College.

Hello everyone! My name is Vincent Avila-Walker, or Vinnie for short, and I am the president of the Student Veterans’ Organization (SVO) here at Southwestern College. I served with the United States Air Force for four years as a mechanic on the A-10 Fighter Jet. I’m taking over Southwestern College’s Instagram account to bring you moments from our annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony.

Our former Governing Board member Nick Aguilar led the presentation of colors as a member of the San Diego All Airborne Chapter.

I was honored to receive this proclamation from Interim Superintendent/President Robert Deegan that makes today an honorary day to celebrate student veterans at Southwestern College.
