Although the first day of school doesn’t start until Aug. 22, Interim Superintendent/President Robert Deegan‘s first day at Southwestern College started a week earlier. His first couple of days on the job weren’t spent stuck behind his desk answering emails, instead, he spent the week exploring all of Southwestern College and shaking hands with everyone who came his way. He visited the Higher Education Centers in Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, National City and the Crown Cove Aquatic Center; sat in on a couple of meetings; delivered a speech to the new First Year Experience cohort; arrived at dawn to meet the custodial crew; toured departments and stopped by almost every office in the Cesar Chavez Student Services Center.
