SBA San Diego and Southwestern College Collaborate to Promote Growth of Small Businesses

SAN DIEGO – Ninety-six percent of the world’s consumers are outside of the United States. That is why, with their common goal to assist small businesses, Dr. Melinda Nish, Superintendent/President of Southwestern College, Dr. Ruben Garcia, Small Business Administration San Diego District Director, and Victor Castillo, Center for International Trade Development Director, signed an agreement to co-sponsor a series of workshops on export trade.

“This agreement, between the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Center for International Trade Development (CITD), furthers our existing collaboration by providing export assistance through counseling and training programs and supporting the SBA mission of promoting and facilitating international trade to small businesses,” said Castillo, Director of the CITD, housed at Southwestern College.

The co-sponsorship agreement, which was signed on June 23 at the SBA’s San Diego office, will enable the SBA and CITD to design, market and deliver workshops to aid small business in beginning and continuing to export products and services.

The workshop series, entitled Are You Ready for Export?, will run from now until December 31,2016, in San Diego and Imperial counties. To view upcoming training opportunities, visit the CITD website at www.sandiegocitd.org.
