What
Southwestern college will host a series of arts programs for 7th to 12th graders this summer. They include African dance, filmmaking, “Broadway Bound,” “Are you the Next Voice?” orchestra, mariachi, “Westwind Brass,” character animation, beginning Photoshop, debate, theatre improvisation 1 and 2, and Shakespeare’s tragedies and comedies.
The classes vary in length from one to two weeks, and run from June 8 through July 30. The deadline to register is June 1, 2015.
Southwestern College Music Instructor Tracy Burklund said the summer programs are a great way to inspire an arts-minded teenager.
“Our goal is to give teens the confidence to sing and perform at their best,” Burklund said. “With the excitement of shows like ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice,’ teens are inspired to be on stage.”
All classes will be taught by professional artists and professors of the arts. Fees vary. Participants may register online through Eventbrite. For more information on class dates, times and fees, please visit the summer arts programs’ website: http://www.swccd.edu/summerarts
