CHULA VISTA, Calif., Oct. 22, 2014 –Saturday marks the grand opening of the OpenAire Marketplace at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. The weekend destination event will run every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. beginning on Oct. 25, and will feature shopping for items such as crafts, antiques, collectables, home décor, clothing, green grocery, unique gifts and specialty items.
Every weekend, in addition to shopping, visitors will have a selection of gourmet food trucks to choose from, as well as entertainment for children like a bounce house, face painting, crafts and other activities. The OpenAire Marketplace will also host live music from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m every Saturday and Sunday.
The event will be located in Southwestern College’s parking lot “O,” which is near the intersection of East H Street and Otay Lakes Road in Chula Vista. Parking and entrance is free to the public.
Vendor spots are available and pricing begins at $30.00 per 16’ x 18’ space. Vendor’s can reserve spots for the OpenAire Marketplace by calling 619-852-7017, or emailing info@openairemarketplace.com, and vendor set up begins at 6:00 a.m. each morning.
“The OpenAire Marketplace is a great weekend outing for families,” stated Shelly Lummus, administrative director of Straight Talk, the non-profit organization running the event. “We’re focusing on not only offering Chula Vista area residents a great place to shop on weekends, but are also keeping it fresh and vibrant with lots of fun, entertainment, and food choices. And with no entrance fee, everyone can enjoy the event.”
Straight Talk is a non-profit organization that provides in-school counseling for at risk students in middle school and high school, family counseling for those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to counseling, and offers sober living homes for adults committed to their future.
