As SWC embarks on implementing its Facilities Master Plan, we need your help to address a large component of this implementation, which is the selection of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE). We are holding a furniture fair on the dates listed below and you are invited to participate and give us your feedback.
Background:
Because FFE makes up 10% or more of the budget of a new building and in order to assure that SWC spends its resources prudently to purchase products that meet our specific performance standards, SWC has established an FFE Committee made up of all constituencies. This Committee, which is a taskforce that reports to the Institutional Facilities Committee (IFC), has been meeting regularly this semester to identify FFE performance standards and evaluate manufacturer specifications for office/administrative spaces and classroom/laboratory furniture.
The FFE Committee has identified three performance standards for all future FFE purchases (see attachment for detailed explanation):
1. Total Cost of Ownership
2. Comfort, Health, and Safety
3. Technology Integration
By addressing performance requirements for all future FFE purchases, the District will save costs on maintenance, repairs, and replacement of FFE, thus freeing up District funds for other important priorities – such as student success.
Furniture Fair:
The furniture fair will take place on the following dates/times in the Staff Dining Room (adjacent to Student Union East). Please feel free to stop by to take a look at the furniture and provide us with your feedback. We will have brief survey forms for your convenience. FFE Committee members have volunteered to host the Furniture Fair and will be present to provide assistance.
