Southwestern College’s Student Veteran Organization (SVO) received an urgent request from the Volunteer Director of California Veterans Home of Chula Vista.
California Veterans Home of Chula Vista is the largest nursing home for our nation’s elderly Veterans with nearly 169 residents. This is their biggest party at the Veterans Home and one that residents and their guests look forward to every year and they always need assistance from volunteers during the entire day. However, due to the loss of VA Work Study Students (mostly Southwestern College students), they are extremely short staffed this year to support their annual Resident Holiday Party.
SVO is extending this invitation campus wide to meet their needs. I was informed they need about 100 volunteers to make this Holiday Party a success for the residents.
The date of the Holiday Party is Thursday, December 12, 2013 from about 5:30pm -8:30pm
